Hello everyone: The title of this episode is “Pairing. The Client With The Right Vendor.” Episode 22.

Someone new to planning a wedding or event would not have a clue about how to evaluate the extent and quality of services offered by event professionals. By researching Pinterest a couple designing their wedding can collect references of what they like.  This is a good start but there is so much more to it than that.

When a wedding coordinator refers their client to a vendor it has to be the right vendor for the client; you want a good fit.

An experienced coordinator finds out what their client needs and wants and can then perfectly match that client with the right vendors.

In planning a dinner party, the choice of wine to be served with food is a well-known example of “pairing”.

Another example of pairing might be, a host creating a seating chart by carefully considering the personality and interests of their guests. Guests are paired and seated based on their compatibility with each other.

This is based on the client’s needs and wants and vendor profiles.

The title of this episode is: “I’m all Done With Wedding Planning.”

In a previous discussion, Tobey had briefly described a bride who thought she was all done with planning her wedding but in fact was only half the way there.

I admire someone who is motivated, creative and a self-starter. I think it’s great that this bride being in the television industry was kind of a “do it yourself person” who had very specific ideas.  Being a performer and an artist this individual was able to communicate her vision. 

To have really good ideas is one thing but now comes logistics and execution and making those ideas happen. Thank goodness she had Tobey Dodge as her wedding coordinator.

Hello Everyone.

The title of this episode is Discovery and Understanding. Your Wedding and the Level of Service you will receive.

Tobey and I Started off talking about Organ Music and Piano Music and Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven…

During this conversation, I got a call from a bride who I was expecting to hear from. She wanted a price. However, this was before we had had a chance to actually speak. Just the price alone is only a number and really doesn’t reflect the extent or value of service. We had not yet spoken about her ideas and vision for her wedding.

Planning a wedding is a new experience for just about everyone. There is an educational step that would include helping the couple understand their own wedding.

And frankly, while speaking with a bride about her wedding I am learning about her and begin to understand the wedding she is planning.

Basically, while exchanging ideas we become acquainted. So, there are a series of steps and understandings that are established in the initial conversation and done right a solid groundwork is established. This bodes well for the success of that event.

This is as a highly specialized activity.

I think with a greater level of understanding established a better level of service can be provided.

Now “communication” here can be defined as is an interchange of ideas between 2 people who are talking to each other. And this should take place between a couple and their wedding coordinator. More fundamentally the couple should also talk with each other about their ideas.  But what about receiving questions that are asked of one’s self? In other words, asking your self an important question and forming a personal decision. In this episode, Tobey addresses the subject of food and catering. I love to cook and I love to eat and I would consider that I am passionate about food. However, Tobey introduced aspects of catering I had not considered such as the various ways that food can be presented at an event and the importance of the ratio of service staff to the number of guests and how this contributes to the level of service guests experience.

Wedding and event planning is a big undertaking and new for most people.

An informed buyer makes good decisions when planning their special event that’s why education and experience are so important. 

The listener of this podcast will benefit from hearing discussions by experienced event professionals. Real situations and issues are addressed and guidance offered.

Our purpose is to provide the listener with fundamental concepts to assist them in the creative process of designing, planning and executing their event.
