There are certain traditions and observances that give guidance to how young women are formally introduced into society.

The debutante ball or cotillion are announcements of coming of age and a formal introduction of a young woman to society. Indeed the Jewish Bar mitzvah and Bat mitzvah or the Spanish Quinceanera are as well announcements and social presentation with ceremonies and traditional observances each with their own protocol.

A wedding is the joining of 2 people and by association the joining of 2 families.

Historically noble families steeped in tradition prearranged weddings as a matter of state to combine wealth or form political alliances.

Loosely protocol is an agreed-upon way of doing something or getting something done.

Though an event is formal, it can be fun and doesn’t have to be stuffy, but nevertheless, it is my opinion that such an event should not be cheapened by incomplete planning or casual presentation.

The Great Caesar Banquet

Hello everyone: 

The title of this episode is “Recipe for a Good Wedding.” Episode 25.

Tobey and I started talking about the importance of choosing high-quality ingredients when preparing a traditional meal for a religious observance and then got to talking about making perfect brownies.  And quite naturally, the analogy of cooking and planning a wedding arose.

We discussed examples of the responsibility of the bridal party being in support the bride on her wedding day and how this ties into the subjects of the grand entrance and Protocol dancing.

And how a bride can diplomatically garner the help of her wedding party.

And finally, we discussed examples of how robots had been used to assist a wedding.

So far in this topic, we have discussed some of the services needed in putting together a wedding. These include Location, Flowers, and Music as well as the importance of becoming comfortable talking with prospective vendors.

In this episode, Tobey addresses the subject of food and catering. I love to cook and I love to eat and I would consider that I am passionate about food. However, Tobey introduced aspects of catering I had not considered such as the various ways that food can be presented at an event and the importance of the ratio of service staff to the number of guests and how this contributes to the level of service guests experience.

Wedding and event planning is a big undertaking and new for most people.

An informed buyer makes good decisions when planning their special event that’s why education and experience are so important. 

The listener of this podcast will benefit from hearing discussions by experienced event professionals. Real situations and issues are addressed and guidance offered.

Our purpose is to provide the listener with fundamental concepts to assist them in the creative process of designing, planning and executing their event.
